Project Overview

The “Pistachio” (开心果) series is one of Three Squirrels’ flagship products, often purchased as a gift or for festive sharing. The brand needed a packaging solution that could withstand the rigors of e-commerce logistics while maintaining a premium “gift-ready” feel. We developed a classic cylindrical tin with a focus on high-fidelity color reproduction to make their mascot characters pop.

Packaging Solution

• Material: 0.23mm high-grade food-safe tinplate, providing an excellent barrier against oxygen and moisture to maintain nut crunchiness.
• Structure: Traditional round seamless body with a deep-drawn slip lid, designed for easy opening and tight resealing.
• Printing: Vibrant “Festive Red” base with gold accents, utilizing 4-color offset printing. The Three Squirrels mascots are rendered with precise detail to maintain brand consistency.
• Finish: Glossy protective varnish that enhances color depth and provides a smooth, premium hand-feel.
• Interior: Clear food-grade gold lacquer coating to prevent oxidation and ensure direct contact safety with the food.

Results & Feedback

The metal packaging significantly extended the shelf life of the pistachios compared to standard plastic pouches. The bold red and gold design made the product a bestseller during Chinese New Year and other gifting seasons. Customers frequently reported reusing the tins for storage, further increasing the brand’s long-term domestic presence.
