Custom Window Tin Packaging for ARCOR Butter Toffees

Project Overview

For the premium 180g toffee collection, ARCOR sought a “see-through” experience. The challenge was to integrate a transparent window into a traditional tin structure without compromising the lid’s rigidity or the food-grade safety of the interior. We developed a custom square tin with a precision-cut PET window that serves as a silent salesman, showcasing the variety of milk, chocolate, and coffee-filled treats inside.

Packaging Solution

• Material: 0.23mm first-grade tinplate with a high-clarity, food-safe PET window insert.
• Structure: Square tin with elegant rounded corners and a step-lid design for secure stacking on retail shelves.
• Printing: Metallic gold base finish achieved through transparent gold varnish over tinplate, complemented by four-color (CMYK) brand graphics and a glossy topcoat.
• Key Feature: The large rectangular window is heat-sealed to the inner lid, ensuring it remains secure during shipping and prevents any sharp edges.
• In-built Protection: Includes a custom-fitted chocolate-colored plastic tray (optional) to keep the toffees organized and presented beautifully.

Results & Feedback

The window tin design significantly increased impulse purchases by removing the “mystery” of the contents. ARCOR reported that the metallic gold finish combined with the product visibility positioned the Butter Toffees as a top-tier gift item during festive seasons. The robust tinplate construction also ensured that the delicate toffees remained uncrushed throughout the global supply chain.
