Project Overview

The challenge was to create a cohesive look across different tea varieties — Da Hong Pao, Qing Xiang Tieguanyin, and Doujiang Oolong — while allowing for instant product recognition. These premium loose-leaf teas are highly sensitive to air and moisture. Our team focused on a classic “tight-fit” round structure with a high-gloss finish to make the products stand out in a competitive retail environment.

Packaging Solution

• Material: 0.23mm high-grade food-safe tinplate, providing a rigid and light-proof barrier.
• Structure: A seamless cylindrical body with a flat-top slip lid. The precision-engineered friction fit creates a reliable seal to lock in the tea’s natural floral and roasted notes.
• Color & Printing: Utilizing vibrant “Chinese Red” and “Imperial Gold” specialized coatings. The brand logo and product names are printed using high-definition lithography for maximum clarity.
• Finish: A high-gloss protective varnish that amplifies the metallic shimmer of the tinplate, giving the product a bright, celebratory “gift” appearance.
• Internal Coating: Finished with a food-grade gold lacquer to ensure the tea remains uncontaminated and retains its authentic flavor profile over time.

Results & Feedback

The “Red & Gold” series has become one of CHINATEA’s most recognizable packaging formats for its Oolong categories. Retailers reported that the vibrant colors and clear typography significantly aided in consumer decision-making.
